Matthieu Perraut is yet another example of how a Breton cannot live with dignity in Paris. At the age of 34, this architect by training, who had sacrificed his desire for sea spray and salt water to start his career with a renowned architecture firm in Paris, just couldn't take it. So he gave it all up to return to his homeland, or at least his waters, in Pornichet, with the Route du Sel in the Mini6.50 and the Grand Tour de Belle-Île as his symbol. At the end of three busy seasons in the Mini6.50 (including a MiniTransat in 2019), he'll get a taste of multihull racing in the Drheam Cup in 2020, before getting back on a single hull with the Class40 'Inter Invest'. With two Transat Jacques-Vabre races (2021 and 2023) under his belt and a poorly digested Route du Rhum 2022, as well as the title of Class40 runner-up, Matthieu Perraut and his sponsor, Inter Invest, are continuing their association by buying Thibaut Vauchel-Camus' former Ocean Fifty, built in 2017. Undergoing a major refit and launched in April 2024, she is now ready to take on all the challenges awaiting her in the Ocean Fifty Series. And, of course, on the MEDMAX Occitanie - Saïdia Resorts.

In this first ocean race in the Mediterranean, Matthieu Perraut will be able to count on Kevin Bloch, an experienced racer from Savoie, who was introduced to sailing on Lake Aix-Les-Bains or Aiguebelette, and who has sailed in the Figaro and the Mini6.50. Kevin Bloch met on the 6.50 circuit and sailed with him in the Class40 in the CIC Normandy (3rd), Les Sables-Horta, the 40'Malouine and above all the Transat Jacques Vabre 2023 (5th). For his part, Kevin Bloch, a sought-after crew member, won the CIC Normandy Race 2023 with a certain Ambrogio Beccaria, on 'Alle Grande Pirelli' when he's not sailing on Jeremie Beyou's IMOCA Charal! As for the Perraut-Bloch partnership on three legs, last year it made its debut on the OceanFifty 'Petit coeur de beurre' on the national circuit alongside all the top names in the sport. Before starting the 2024 season on 'Inter Invest' with a 2nd place in the ArmenRace.

In short, a Breton and a Savoyard united by a wealth of experience in the Mediterranean, and we'll see what happens on the MEDMAX Occitanie - Saïdia Resorts.
