Well, Marco Guerra, an Italian! So beware of him, as of the other compatriots entered in this brand new MEDMAX Occitanie-Saïdia Resorts. And be even more wary because this one is 'French'. Well, almost, since he has been based in Villeneuve-Loubet, near Nice, for ten years, where he runs a shipyard, Global Service Yachts. Above all, don't be swayed by the charming smile and curly hair of this native of Bari on the Adriatic coast. At the age of 50, Marco Guerra has been racing on all kinds of waters since he was a youngster: Olympic sailing, the Mediterranean Games, then crew and skippers in world championships, European championships, the Admiral's Cup and above all ocean racing in the Mediterranean, where he is always on the podium, if not just one step short of it. Especially since he embarked on the Class40 adventure in 2023 by buying Andrea Fornaro's former 'Influence'! That was a year ago, and his first ocean race, the Lunga Bolina, was shared with an illustrious crew member, the Italian windsurfing champion, Alessandra Sensini. A 'godmother' who must have breathed life into the ITA171's sails, as Marco Guerra's 2023 season got off to an auspicious start. Third place in the Rolex Middle Sea Race 2023 won by Ivica Kostelic, third in the Palermo-Monte Carlo won by a certain Kito de Pavant, and once again in the Saint-Tropez Paprec 600 won by... de Pavant and Kostelic! Nothing to be ashamed of for the man who doesn't hesitate to take on board young, up-and-coming Italian sailors, such as Domenico Caparrotti, aged 24, who has just crossed the Atlantic on the Niji40 with Andrea Fornero. The Italian school!
In fact, it is for the benefit of other young people that Marco Guerra wears the colours of Imagin'Act, an endowment fund created on the initiative of Socomec and Energys, which works to brighten the future of young people aged 10 to 15 from modest backgrounds and enable them to dream big. This doesn't stop him from dreaming big, too, through his racing team, Med Racing, based on the Côte d'Azur. With, of course, the MEDMAX Occitanie I Saïdia Resorts in his sights. But also much further afield, towards the Atlantic and its legendary 'transatlantic races'. For the moment, we're heading for Morocco.
