Optimist and Ilca regattas at sea: the ambition of the Royal Sailing Federation

In the afternoon, in front of the port of Saïdia marina, the Royal Moroccan Sailing Federation had organised a regatta, contested by 'budding sailors' from various Moroccan clubs. A competition contested with the same seriousness and the same eagerness to win as the MedMax, whose racing boats moored on the quayside were the delight of these young sailors.

The vice-president of the Royal Moroccan Sailing Federation, Anas Maazouz, stressed the importance of "The federation's intention to develop sailing in Morocco, to stimulate the spirit and motivation of young people, and to re-launch the popularisation of the discipline, which has been somewhat neglected, with the creation of sailing schools".

The spectacle of the many Optimists and ILCAs, all white sails dancing in the wind on a blue sea was living proof of this.
