Tradition, tradition, tradition. After the Latin sails the day before, the Languedoc jousts were on show this Saturday morning in the harbour, in the heart of the village, in collaboration with the Jeune Lance Graulenne. A real jewel in the crown of the local heritage, these duels on the water pit two boats, the red and the blue, against each other, rowed by eight strong men. The jouster, for his part, stands on the tintaine, a platform perched two metres high, with the pavois (shield) firmly on his hip and the lance tucked under his arm. The aim of the game is to knock down the player opposite. The tournament is based on elimination up to the quarter, half and final stages. It's all very simple. The main jousting societies in Languedoc are based in Le Grau du Roi, Agde, Palavas, Frontignan, Mèze and Sète.
For this Med Max tournament, Merwan Marigana and Anthony Buisson (Jeune lance graulenne) shared first prize, followed by Steven Chanut (Grau du Roi) and Armand Romain (Sète).
