Class40 Prologue: innovative!

Innovating, innovating all the way.
Already the initiator of an ocean race in the Mediterranean with an unprecedented finish in Morocco, Kito de Pavant wanted to put his stamp on the event by organising an unconventional prologue for the Class40s.

In fact, it was unprecedented. Instead of a traditional course, with a starting line and buoys to round several times for the whole fleet, the ten Class40s volunteering to put on a show were pitted against each other in pairs, in elimination duels, with quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals.
A starting line, two windward buoys to round and back, in an unbridled speed run. It was a first for the guests on board, as well as for the many boats sailing in the Baie d'Aigues-Mortes, who came to take a closer look at this surprising innovation. Everyone was delighted.
It's great," enthused Mikael Mergui, skipper of Centrakor. It's a change for us". And yes, Mika, that was the aim of the game.
