Speed runs: wind at last!

The weather was also favourable for one of the many attractions planned for the MedMax village: speed runs in kitefoil, wingfoil and windfoil, in collaboration with the Montpellier-based company F-One, which was on site. Did you say foil? These are the T-shaped carbon appendages under the floats that enable these gliding machines to fly over the water. It was a spectacle that set the northern beach of Port-Camargue on fire, just a few dozen metres from the harbour master's office, a popular spot for the region's board sports enthusiasts. With an energetic north-westerly wind of between 20 and 25 knots, the riders performed a series of timed runs between two buoys, much to the delight of the crowds lining the sand.
